Pro Pickleball Gear was founded by a lifelong sailor and a serious pickleball player who saw an opportunity to bring true performance materials to the pickleball accessories game.

Pro Pickleball Gear designs high-performance pickleball bags, paddle covers and gear accessories built from advanced racing sail material.

After years around competitive sailing and marine innovation, one thing was clear: The material used in racing sailboat sails is engineered for extreme durability – wind load, sun exposure, constant tension and years of use.

It’s overbuilt by design.
So we asked a simple question: What if that same performance material could be brought to pickleball?

Our bags are handcrafted in the USA using surplus material originally manufactured for competitive racing sailboat sails.

We didn’t start Pro Pickleball Gear because the sport needed another bag. We started it because we knew better materials already existed.

The People Behind The Movement

John Gurr grew up sailing in Newport Beach, competing from a young age and developing a deep respect for craftsmanship and performance materials. Years around competitive sailing shaped his understanding of what true durability requires.

Rhonda Gurr recognized that the same high-performance material engineered for racing sailboat sails could redefine what pickleball accessory gear should be – stronger, lighter and built to last.

By working with surplus sail material that would otherwise end up in a landfill, we extend the life of elite marine fabric in a new and purposeful way.

I really like the cover and will buy from Pro Pickleball Gear again.

I received my paddle cover very quickly and it exceeds expectations. It is a very quality piece of gear. I didn't know the source of the material was from high performance sail material when I made my purchase but all the better repurposing this strong material as a paddle cover. I really like the cover and will buy from Pro Pickleball Gear again.

The owners of the company included a card and a note for a personal touch.

The paddle cover is padded, tough, and fits well; I love mine.

Shout out for PPG!  I met John on the courts in Baja.  He showed me his line of pickleball gear and I was impressed. The gear is well made in the USA, with quality materials.  As a long time sailboat racer and “gear guy”, I love the use of sailcloth.  It is tough and durable.  And as someone who cares for the earth, I’m glad the surplus sailcloth is being used.  Plus, it just looks cool.

The paddle cover is padded, tough, and fits well; I love mine.  I was really impressed with the men’s backpack.  Really well made and roomy, with plenty of pockets for balls, phones, and water.  I ordered one right away and looking forward to receiving it.

I think well made gear produced in the USA that is also well priced, is hard to find.  Yet here it is.  I highly recommend!

I now look like a pro on the courts!   A total win all-round!!

I have been playing the great sport of pickleball for nine years now  but carrying my gear around in a dumpy-looking pack sack.  Until now!   I recently met John Gurr , founder of PPG Pro Pickleball Gear, in the Baja.  It took less than a minute to be completely sold on not just a zippered slip to keep my paddle protected but also a sling case to carry around two paddles, some water and sunscreen, my phone and even a small towel and a tensor sleeve for my knees.  Not only are these products reasonably priced and attractive in appearance, they are made from recycled heavy-duty marine materials!   In short, a green product that is easy on the environment.  And I now look like a pro on the courts!   A total win all-round!!

The Tote Bag is AMAZING!!

My wife and I take our silver tote bag to the grocery store and golf course every weekend. It is extremely durable and stylish, we get compliments all the time. It holds a shocking amount of volume yet still looks and feels sleek! Would buy again. 10/10 recommend.
